SEMANA SANTA

You’ve never seen Easter celebrated as it’s celebrated in Spain. Solemn processions, featuring enormous religious images of the Crucifixion and the Virgin Mary, carried out by the light of the full moon.

Where to go
Andalusia is the main choice – even the smallest town has at least two cofradías (brotherhoods) – but don’t rule out Castilla y León: Semana Santa is celebrated with just as much colour and fervour in León and Zamora, and Segovia’s processions, centred around the local hermitages, are legendary.
