Pamplona, the lovely, historic capital of the ancient Kingdom of Navarra, seems to be famous for unfair reasons. Yes, it's on the Camino de Santiago; and yes, millions of people descend on the city to take part in the San Fermín festival in July. Visitors who head to Pamplona to see the city on its own merits are in for a treat, since there's a surprising number of things to explore and do, aside from passing through on your way to Santiago, or getting chased by 500 kg of beef on the hoof.
