The city’s in the middle of establishing eight different cycle routes (see them at
http://www.sevilla.org/sevillaenbici/pdf/redcarril/Plano2.pdf) which are designed to bring cyclists safely in and out of the city and provide a viable alternative to using cars in the Andalusian capital. Work continues on finishing the system; the members of A Contramano, Seville’s regional cycling group, continually update a progress map online at
THE MAP
FIVE THINGS NOT TO MISS
5. Riding along the Guadalquivir at sunset. One of the first bicycle paths to be completed in the city, the stretch that runs along the east bank of the river is an absolute delight at any time of the day, but is delightful.
4. Being able to escape the city by train now that RENFE has relaxed restrictions on taking bikes on the Seville – Boadilla – Granada line. Looking for a challenging yet fun weekend away? Grab the regional train up over to Córdoba and give the Vía Verde de la Campiña (http://www.viasverdes-ffe.com/viasv_htm/vv_campina1.htm) a try.
