FAQs
Cycling in Spain? Are you lot crazy?
We're no crazier than people who bike through Tuscany, through Burgundy, along the Danube Trail or who do the Transamerica tour. Crazy is as crazy does, really....

What is bike touring, anyway?
Bike touring (called cicloturismo de alforjas in Spanish) is an increasingly popular means of travelling. Where tourists used to rely on motorized transit to see places, many people are now choosing to dust off their bikes and to reclaim the fun and freedom they enjoyed when they were younger. Why travel by bike? Aside from giving you a fun workout (which means you can indulge in as much of the local cuisine as you want!), travelling by bike offers a relaxed way to see parts of the country that many tourists don't get to see. The landscape unfolds gradually; you experience the change, from region to region, which isn't always possible on a walking tour, and which simply seems like a blur if you're travelling by car. Not only is it a more relaxed way of seeing a country, it's a much more open one: the barriers that exist between tourist and local melt instantly, allowing you a more genuine experience of the place you're visiting. The good news is that you don't have to shell out thousands of dollars to enjoy a cycling vacation. With a little bit of planning, a smattering of the local language and a good dose of curiosity, you can enjoy the same kind of two-wheeled liberty, and not be bound to what someone else thinks you should see.

Don't you have to be really fit to travel on a bike?
Most people who have a general level of fitness (regular walks, exercise three times a week) have little or no trouble on a biking holiday. The key is to pace yourself, and not to martyr yourself in the process. Preparation is key. Riding at least three times a week, including weekend and all-day trips, will help get you in shape so that you don't spend the entire trip downing fistfuls of aspirins.

Seville is fast becoming famous as the city which is destroying the stereotypes that Spaniards either can’t or won’t become urban cyclists.
